It's Thursday!

While visiting in Ontario last summer, we went to see Devin's grandfather, who had Alzheimer's. He didn't seem to respond much to us, and slept a lot -- even while sitting up. Benjamin had such an attachment to his Great-Grandpa Greene, though. It broke Benjamin's heart to see him like this.

Grandpa Green passed away just before Christmas last year. I am so glad I have photos of him and also videos.

Water for Christmas

"Every day 4,500 mothers bury their children due to contaminated water. They are forced to sustain the lives of their family with a diabolical liquid that contains both life and death. This lack of access to clean water is recognized as the leading cause of death in underdeveloped nations. And it just doesn't have to be.

For a fraction of what Americans spend during the holidays, the whole world could be equipped with life-saving, clean water. So we are coming together to trade consumerism for compassion and buy Water For Christmas. And we are starting in West Africa.

We are united simply by a desire to keep our eyes open and hearts soft. We believe that indeed a small group of committed individuals can change the world and in the process we watch our own lives transformed."

My project is a card I made emphasizing the need to "being there" for someone. It's so important to be an encourager and to be compassionate -- something that is lacking in most of us these day, I think.

I used Basic Grey's "Indian Summer" for my card.

Thanks for participating in this blog hop. Now, hop over to Ann House's blog!!

Last weekend's layouts......

I got quite a few layouts done this past weekend. I think it's because I planned it a bit better. I choose the papers for my photos and then brought most of my embellishments alongs to finish them up.

UHU Glue Roller

So I got this free UHU Glue Roller in the mail this week. Thanks, Deanne, for mentioning their free offer :-)

They also sent some patterned paper. I decided to use up some of last year's fall pics. Here's my layout:

I found the glue roller to be wonderful - just the right size, and it felt comfortable in my hand. The glue went on a little wobbly at times, and I found I had to hold it nice a straight and then it was fine. Overall very pleased with it!
I'm not sure if the offer is still open or not, but here's where I got mine for FREE!

Cards!

I've been doing more cards lately -- they're nothing fancy :-) but they are a bit better than previous attempts. LOL!

Most were done for a "Card Mania" event at Dixie Pieces. All during the month of October the DT are posting card challenges. GREAT idea for getting your holiday cards done on time. Hey, maybe this year I'll even get them sent out in the mail! :-)

What I've been working on....

My kit from Scrapbook Heaven had such great colors -- I happen to LOVE browns and oranges :-)

Love these photos of my (then) 3 kiddos. I was trying to be all "professional" with the shots and poses. So funny now.....

My "not so ordinary" boy :-) He'll make some girl very happy one of these days! Love him to pieces!

These photos were ones I took last fall -- October 16th, to be exact. The weather is certainly different this year. I don't have their fall photos done yet this year and it's been so frosty out -- don't know if we'll get a chance to.

This layout was done for our Sisterhood of Scrap challenge for Monday.

Thanks for looking!

10-Day Give

I saw this while blog-surfing and thought it was an amazing idea! As a family, we will be doing this for the next 10 days. Kinda like the movie "Pay it Forward" -- and if we can make a difference in the life of one person, it will be worth it!

I can't wait to update you with how it went :-)

Layouts, again :-)

I've been doing more "girl" layouts lately -- this Basic Grey Lemonade is perfect!

I used a sketch by Pink Sketches for this layout.
"SWEETNESS"

"LOVE THIS BOY"

"JOY" My dad got so much joy from his grandchildren around :-)

"HAPPY DAY"

Thanks for lookin'!

Sweet Child of Mine

Isn't she sweet!?!! Love her so much!

I used patterned paper to make the flower. I cut out 2 circles, wrinkled them up then cut the top circle to make petals. Then I rolled the petals under. Added a button on top!

Check out the challenge on Scrapping Out Loud! blog.

Thousand Words Thursday - Sept 10

We conquered Gros Morne Mountain :-) It was NOT easy (especially for the old folks, LOL!) but we are so glad we did it!

Not a great photo as we were in the clouds. About 15 minutes after this photo, the clouds blew away and the sun came out.

Here we are halfway to the base of the mountain -- a small part of the 16 km hike
