BOOKING It!

Well, not much reading for me in March. I was too busy with LIFE! I'm not sure how April will be as I'll be doing some spring cleaning and also trying to gear up for our school ending for the year. We've made lots of plans for our homeschool group, so that will take some of my time away from reading.

I did read:

~~ Song of Erin, by BJ Hoff

GREAT story! I'll be looking for more of her books

~~ House Rules, by Jodi Picoult

This one was about a young teen with Asperger's Syndrome who is accused of murder. Very interesting read; I learned a lot about the syndrome. The author did a great amount of research on the subject.

Currently reading:

~~Just Jane, by Nancy Moser

An easy read about author Jane Austen. Since I have not ready any of Austen's works, I don't know how accurate the portrayal is.

Planning to read:

~~The Winds of Promise, and To Gather the Wind, by Bodie and Brock Thoene. It's set in the 1800's during the California gold rush. Should be interesting!

~~Love Finds You in Liberty Indiana, by Melanie Dobson. Haven't read any of her books yet, but should be an easy ready. This one is about the Underground Railroad.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How about you? Any plans for this month? Do you find that you are slowing down with your reading at this time of year, or are you reading more? I'd love to hear from you!
This month I am giving away the Just Jane book, by Nancy Moser (I'm almost finished it!).
Leave a comment and I'll enter your name in for the drawing on April 23rd.
February Reading ....AND a giveaway!!
Here's what I read last month:
~~ Michal - Jill Eileen Smith
~~ Abigail - Jill Eileen Smith
Set in Bible times and all about two of King David's wives. GREAT books!! Really enjoyed them! Sent them off to my mom to read.
The Daughters of Jacob Kane - set of 2 books by Sharlene MacLaren. Not sure if there's more in the series or not.
~~ Hannah Grace
~~ Maggie Rose
These were really good, as well. Enjoyed them! I think the third book is coming out this summer.
~~ Watch Over Me - Christa Parrish
Not the ending I expected, but good book :-) I like her writing style. I think this is only her second book. Will keep an eye out for more of her books.
TO read this month:
~~ Stepping Into Sunlight, by Sharon Hinck
Just started this one yesterday. A bit slow at the start, but I think it will get more interesting.
~~ Stones of My Accusers - Tracy Groot
This one is set in Bible times, just after Jesus' crucifixion.
~~ Song of Erin, by BJ Hoff.
Found this one at the library and am excited to start reading it. From the back of the book, ".... an epic that spans generations and relives one of the most colorful eras in American history while shedding new light on the "terrible beauty" and ancient glory that is Ireland."
~~ Take One
~~ Take Two
Thought I'd try something by Karen Kingsbury again. Haven't read her books in AGES! These are two of a set of 4 (two new releases to come out this spring and summer)
~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, how about you?? What are you planning to read this month?
Leave a comment and I'll enter you name for a book drawing. I have "At The Scent of Water", by Linda Nichols to give away. I somehow ended up with two copies :-) I've read several of her books, and they are very well written. This one is no exception. You'll be sure to enjoy it!

I'll draw for a winner before the end of the month. I also picked up two new books this week. I plan to give them away also. Be watching during the first week of each month for a book give-away!

February Books

Picked these books up from the library, but the only one I finished was the first book.

Dear To Me - Wanda Brunstetter
This was okay, but not that exciting. I find Brunstetter really takes a long time to tell a story -- could be a much shorter book :-)

These I brought back as I went to a Christian book store and bought a couple of new books to read.
Secrets of the Heart - Al and Joanna Lacy
A Time to Love - Al and Joanna Lacy
The Flight of Swallows - Audrey Howard

Ok, at the bookstore I picked up:

Michal - Jill Eileen Smith
Finished this one today and starting on Abigail this evening. Set in Bible times and all about King David's first wife. GREAT book!!

Abigail
- Jill Eileen Smith
About another of King David's wives.

Also picked up Song of Erin, by BJ Hoff. Sent this one to my mother for her birthday, so I'll have to wait 'til she's done with it before I get a chance to read :-)

Oh, must update on the books I got this week at the library. Went to a new library out of town (about 20 minutes from here) and they have lots of Christion fiction.

These will be on my list for February:

The Daughters of Jacob Kane - set of 2 books by Sharlene MacLarrn. Not sure if there's more in the series or not.
Hannah Grace
Maggie Rose

Watch Over Me -
Christa Parrish

Stones of My Accusers - Tracy Groot

The Adams County Trilogy - by Jerry S. Eicher. I only found two of the books, hopefully can get the third.
Rebecca's Promise
Rebecca's Return

That should be enough, don't you think?!!

January books

Books I read in January:

Twice Loved - Lori Copeland
This was the first book in a series. I enjoyed it and will try to find the rest.

Outlaw's Bride - Lori Copeland
Agaian, first in a series, but I don't have the rest of the books. Will try to get them at our public library.

Mr. and Ms. Annoymous
Can't even remember who wrote this and don't want to go search and see. Didn't enjoy this one.

The Penny Pincher's Club - Sarah Strohmeyer
Very light read, but good :-)

The Mountain Song Legacy by B. J. Hoff
- A Distant Music
- The Wind Harp
- The Song Weaver

Really enjoyed this series! I think it's the first books I've read by this author. I actually bought another novel by BJ Hoff and it's on my list for February.

What have you read this past month??

Books!

Trying to do up some reading goals for this year.

One thing I really want to get back to is reading to Jessica and Benjamin. I've kinda left that by the wayside a bit, but now the plan is an hour of reading each weeknight. We started last night with one of my FAVORITE books -- Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield. This is my third time reading it aloud :-) I will get Jessica and Benjamin to choose another couple of books each for when we've finished this one.

As for me, I love to read historial fiction and Christian fiction. Whatever I can get at the library will make up some of my list of books for this year. Also, my mom (who is away teaching right now) always brings a few boxes of books when she comes home for the summer. Can't wait for that! New books :-)

I also have The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery, that I want to get through. Others that I want to read (some are re-reads) are:

~~ To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee -- I read this one in highschool but want to read again.

~~ Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis -- another set that I read as a teenager.

~~ Even Greater, by Reinhard Bonnke

~~ Take Control of Your Health, by Joseph Mercola

~~ Florence Nightingale, by Laura E. Richards

~~ Still Alice, by Lisa Genova

~~ Laying Down the Rails (Charlotte Mason Habits Handbook), by Sonya Shafer

~~ The Book of Negroes, by Lawrence Hill

I'm sure I'll have more to add this year, but this'll do for a start :-)
