This was done using the Basic Grey pagekit.

The next two are based on sketches by Deanne Burton, my sis!

Something new at Lovebug!

Lovebug Scrapbooking Blog

Books!

Trying to do up some reading goals for this year.

One thing I really want to get back to is reading to Jessica and Benjamin. I've kinda left that by the wayside a bit, but now the plan is an hour of reading each weeknight. We started last night with one of my FAVORITE books -- Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield. This is my third time reading it aloud :-) I will get Jessica and Benjamin to choose another couple of books each for when we've finished this one.

As for me, I love to read historial fiction and Christian fiction. Whatever I can get at the library will make up some of my list of books for this year. Also, my mom (who is away teaching right now) always brings a few boxes of books when she comes home for the summer. Can't wait for that! New books :-)

I also have The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery, that I want to get through. Others that I want to read (some are re-reads) are:

~~ To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee -- I read this one in highschool but want to read again.

~~ Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis -- another set that I read as a teenager.

~~ Even Greater, by Reinhard Bonnke

~~ Take Control of Your Health, by Joseph Mercola

~~ Florence Nightingale, by Laura E. Richards

~~ Still Alice, by Lisa Genova

~~ Laying Down the Rails (Charlotte Mason Habits Handbook), by Sonya Shafer

~~ The Book of Negroes, by Lawrence Hill

I'm sure I'll have more to add this year, but this'll do for a start :-)

Another couple of layouts.....

This is based on a sketch by Alison Cope. My second boy and Deanne's second boy -- they are so alike they could be brothers :-)

Loved the photos I took of this little froggy friend. Benjamin actually spied him on the grass when we were walking one day. We all took turns holding him and then we set him on the ground again. He jumped into the water and swam around a bit. So neat to see him swimming :-)

I've been busy.....

in this new year! Actually scrapped more than I thought I would.

LOVE the paper I used in this layout. Too bad you can't see all the sparkles on it. It's the new Bo Bunny -- hubby bought it for me for Christmas. Sketch by Amy G.

Benjamin praying for snow! LOL! We were just about buried in it, couldn't open the front door! Sketch by Ann Seleshanko.

Look at my sweet girl! Used Glimmer Mist but you can't really see it that well. This was done using Dixie Pieces December kit.

Bad photos, but I still wanted to use them. Used Creative Memories paper. Sketch by Liz Chidester.

LOVE the colors in this layout. Again, I used a Dixie Pieces kit (wonderful kits, btw!) Photos of out little hike to Boot Harbour this past summer. Sketch by Pamela Young

Started working on Christmas cards already :-) Maybe if I get some cards done, I'll actually mail them out in time for next Christmas.
Deanne and Lesley post a different challenge each month on Christmas Cards All Year 'Round. Check it out!

Here are my cards for January.

The four cards (above) were also done for a challenge at Scrap Friendzy -- they have a Super Sketch-a-Thon going on this month!

Let's talk resolutions.....

Linda, our new SISTER at Sisterhood of Scrap, challenged us to write down our resolutions and post them so that others can help keep us in line :-) With that in mind, here are my resolutions.

SCRAPPY:
~ submit at least 2 layouts per month -- I haven't been submitting much at all, but I think I would like to see a layout of mine actually in print in a magazine.

~ scrap at least 3 layouts per week -- SHOULD be attainable, considering that I usually create between 200-250 layouts in a year

~ organize all my photos, both printed and digital -- Most of my digital prints are organized; I just want to get them printed and then organized into file boxes.

~ I would like to post more on my blog. Lately this has been very sporadic.

PERSONAL:

~ Definitely to lose some weight, probably 25-30 lbs. This one's gonna be tough and I love potato chips - they are my weakness!

~ Walk at least 4 days a week.

~ Keep up with my devotional in the mornings. Currently I'm following a blog that gives the readings for each day, and also some thoughts about the readings. It's called "For the Love of God".

~ Spend more time reading to my children. This is one thing we've kinda left by the wayside. They enjoy it so much, though. Tomorrow we will pick out a few books and decide what we'll start with.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think this will do for now :-) I may think of more later.
I am busy this week with organizing and purging. Starting with the children's bedrooms. I want their rooms done before we start back to school next week. Then, while they're working with school, I can get my room done and also the living areas of the house done. That's the plan!
Every Day is a Gift
I've decided to choose a PHRASE for this year -- one that I can think about, pattern my choices after, and live with this thought in mind. My phrase is "Every Day is a Gift". I want to keep in mind that we are to live one day at a time; not looking to the past with regret, nor looking ahead with worry. If I look at each day as being a GIFT, then I certainly wouldn't want to waste my day :-)
Now, since the new year, I have not been doing good with this -- I've really had to work at getting my attitude right. I can see that this will definitely be something I'll need to work at. So, I think I chose the right phrase.
How about you? Do you chose a WORD or PHRASE for the year? I'd love to hear about it!
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. " James 1:17
